We are all familiar with bedding wallflowers, planted out in the autumn in containers and borders ready to provide us with colour in spring. The plants used are biennials that we throw away after flowering. There are though perennial wallflowers such as the variety Fragrant Star as shown above that last for many years and form bushy plants that flower for several weeks each spring. They are perfect for smaller gardens as they keep compact and bushy and don't need a lot of looking after.
