RAIN DROP STORAGE FROM ELHO

 
The new Rain Drop from ELHO has great style with an ecological twist. Most water storage devices are very functional and not at all stylish. It holds 75ltr of rain water in its rounded belly shape.

The Rain Drop fits on to standard drain pipes where it collects rain water and fills your watering can at the same time! ELHO has redesigned the watering can producing a stylish 'jug like can' that fits neatly in the Rain Drop. COLOURFUL KALE

Kale is becoming very popular as a vegetable with the popularity of them as a cut and come again container veg. But the ornamental ones add spectacular colour to winter baskets and window boxes. Surround them with deep purple pansys or violas and an underplanting of purple dwarf iris for a stunning winter display.

OUTDOOR CYCLAMEN BIGGER AND BETTER

For the last few years we have had the small Cyclamen Miracle to bring stunning bright colours into our containers and hanging baskets for the winter months. They are hardy and will survive wet winters as long as we use a well drained compost.

Plant breeders are now introducing larger cyclamen plants for outdoor use. These are now available at garden centres for standing on the patio or grouping in a larger container. The colours are standard cyclamen colours ranging from red through pinks to dazzling white. The beautifully marked leaves are a real bonus.

GROW BAGS ON THE EDGE

This new take on growbag support is from www.crowngardenproducts.com. The new Grow Bag Frame is made in the UK from recycled steel and is stylish in its simplicity.

Unlike other grow bag frames, this frame turns the growbag on its side to give better soil depth and less compaction. It is also easier to water. Once fully assembled and in use the frame and bag can be easily moved.

POP-UP WATER BUTTS

The H2UGO water butt from The Outside Room is a new contemporary 'pop up' water butt. It is available in three sizes - 100, 200 and 300 litres and in a selection of bright colours. Should be in local garden centres next spring and will be easier to take home being flatpacked. 

AUTUMN DWARF HEDGING!

Dwarf Coreopteris is becoming more popular as a perennial that is perfect for container growing. It can be grown from seed in the spring and should make good flowering plants by late summer. You can always buy them as small plants in the garden centre in late spring early summer. I've used them in black troughs as an edging to my deck - they look like a flowering dwarf hedge.

A PRINCESS OF CLEMATIS FLOWERS

Late summer flowers on climbers are a bonus especially on clematis. The small, luminous pink, tulip shaped flowers of Clemetis Princess Diana are stunning in the late summer and autumn sun. They prefer a sunny position but planted in water retentive soil or compost. Prune back to 7-8" in spring as they flower on the same years growth.

BAMBOO ECO POTS

www.erinhorticulture.com has always been at the forefront of using recycled and Eco friendly materials to produce it's garden products.In the 1980's they produced their popular range of fibre pots that are still available.
New from them now is a range of Eco pots made from molded bamboo pulp and coloured with food safe dyes. The post should last for at least 2-3 years and will then completely biodegrade if buried.
